He said: "I am 'The voice of one crying in the wilderness: "Make straight the way of the LORD," ' as the prophet Isaiah said." John 1:23 (NKJV)
Father, I pray for those who are called to prepare the way for Jesus to enter other's hearts.

John answered them, saying, "I baptize with water, but there stands One among you whom you do not know. John 1:26 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, give us discernment as to whether the person we are talking with knows Jesus or not.

Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. Hebrews 2:1 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me heed all that I hear from you.

For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. Hebrews 2:10 (NKJV)
Lord, perfect me by my sufferings.

As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. Psalm 42:1 (NKJV)
O God, I long for, I thirst for more of you.

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance. Psalm 42:5 (NKJV)
Jesus, I offer you the disquiet in my soul and place my hope in you.

O my God, my soul is cast down within me; therefore I will remember You from the land of the Jordan, and from the heights of Hermon, from the Hill Mizar. Psalm 42:6 (NKJV)
Therefore I WILL remember what you have done for me.

A word received: Be quiet before me. Place your hope in me and find your rest in me.

Pray for vocations to the Sisters of St. Mary.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. John 1:1-2 (NKJV)
Jesus, Word of God, help me make a new beginning with you each day.

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:4-5 (NKJV)
Jesus, shine your light into my life.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. John 1:6-8 (NKJV)
Father, thank you for the witnesses you have sent to me.

He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:11-13 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for bringing me to adoption by your Father (and mine).

But to the Son He says: "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions." Hebrews 1:8-9 (NKJV)
Father, I pray for your kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven.

"Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the LORD your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, that you may fear the LORD your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. Deuteronomy 6:1-2 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, I pray that our children and grandchildren will walk in your ways.

Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the LORD God of your fathers has promised you--'a land flowing with milk and honey.' Deuteronomy 6:3 (NKJV)
Father, please help me enter the fullness of your provision for me.

You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Deuteronomy 6:5 (NKJV)
Dad, help me love you as you love me.

"And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (NKJV)
Father, restore parenting in our society.

A word received: Pray for the fire of my Holy Spirit in your life.

But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him, that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke: "Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?" John 12:37-38 (NKJV)
Jesus, please help me recognize the times and season in my life as you did. I know there will be hard times as well as good; prepare my heart for all of them.

Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again: "He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, Lest they should see with their eyes, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them." John 12:39-40 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please give me a listening heart so that I may be fully converted.

Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as some others, epistles of commendation to you or letters of commendation from you? You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart. 2 Corinthians 3:1-3 (NKJV)
Father, please help me to be an epistle of Christ so that all can read him in me.

For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 2 Corinthians 3:9 (NKJV)
Jesus, let your ministry of righteousness shine forth in my life.

Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Psalm 103:1 (NKJV)
Father, I bless you; Jesus, I bless you; Holy Spirit I bless you; Holy Trinity, One God, I bless you and your name.

He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities. Psalm 103:10 (NKJV)
      Lord, that is true.

Bless the LORD, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word. Psalm 103:20 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me heed your voice and live out your word.

But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. Matthew 6:6 (NKJV)
Father, please give me this quiet time of prayer with you daily.

And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak, 2 Corinthians 4:13 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me to speak out of faith rather than doubt.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, renew me day by day.

I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go into the house of the LORD." Psalm 122:1 (NKJV)
LORD, help me find my joy in going into your house.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, prosperity within your palaces." For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, "Peace be within you." Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek your good. Psalm 122:6-9 (NKJV)
Holy Father, I pray that Jerusalem will be a place of peace rather than war.

"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also." Matthew 5:38-39 (NKJV)
Lord, in this time of great dissension, help us turn the other cheek.

"But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust." Matthew 5:44-45 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, bring us to this place of charity towards others.

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 (NKJV)
Shine, Jesus, Shine in our hearts!

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6 (NKJV)
Father, let your light shine forth in our darkness.

"You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not commit adultery.' But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Matthew 5:27-28 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help me recognize the secret sins of my life and repent of them.

If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. Matthew 5:29-30 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me discern where my true profit lies and cast away anything that gets in the way of drawing close to you.

But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one. Matthew 5:37 (NKJV)
Jesus, please help me be true to my word.

For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 2 Corinthians 3:9 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me enter into the ministry of righteousness.

Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 (NKJV)
Jesus, take away the veil that blinds so many of your people and help them enter your abundant life.

Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications! In Your faithfulness answer me, and in Your righteousness. Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, for in Your sight no one living is righteous. Psalm 143:1-2 (NKJV)
      Father, hear my prayers.

Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, for in You do I trust; cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You. Psalm 143:8 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, show me the path to walk in.

Deliver me, O LORD, from my enemies; in You I take shelter. Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness. Psalm 143:9-10 (NKJV)
Father, you are my shelter; teach me your ways.

Easier day yesterday. Little pain. Many prayers answered.

Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23-24 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, cleanse my heart from every resentment as I bring my gifts to your altar.

For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. 2 Corinthians 2:15 (NKJV)
Father, help me be the fragrance of Christ to others.

The LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge." Then she said, "Let me find favor in your sight, my lord; for you have comforted me, and have spoken kindly to your maidservant, though I am not like one of your maidservants." Ruth 2:12-13 (NKJV)
Help us, Lord Jesus, give aid and comfort to all who are in need and to refugees.

Statue of Liberty National Monument, A poem by Emma Lazarus is graven on a tablet within the pedestal on which the statue stands.
            The New Colossus
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
      With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us, O God of our salvation, You who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of the far-off seas; Psalm 65:5 (NKJV)
      Jesus, you are my confidence.

You visit the earth and water it, You greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; You provide their grain, for so You have prepared it. Psalm 65:9 (NKJV)

"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. Matthew 5:13 (NKJV)

"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Matthew 5:13-14 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me shine forth your light.

Father, I pray that my and deeds will bring glory and honor to you.

Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood." Mark 12:41-44 (NKJV)
Lord, please help me to have the courage and faith of this poor widow.

Let as many bondservants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and His doctrine may not be blasphemed. And those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brethren, but rather serve them because those who are benefited are believers and beloved. Teach and exhort these things. 1 Timothy 6:1-2 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, transform our attitudes about those who are over us. Help us give honor where honor is due.

Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 1 Timothy 6:6 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me find in you this contentment with godliness.

Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, "Which is the first commandment of all?" Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one. And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." Mark 12:28-31 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help us get our priorities straight: Loving God first, and then our neighbors as ourselves.

So the scribe said to Him, "Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other but He. And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices." Mark 12:32-33 (NKJV)
Jesus, we often wonder what sacrifice we could make for you; but loving you is the best.

Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. 1 Timothy 5:17 (NKJV)

Then they came again to Jerusalem. And as He was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to Him. And they said to Him, "By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority to do these things?" Mark 11:27-28 (NKJV)

Now at vintage-time he sent a servant to the vinedressers, that he might receive some of the fruit of the vineyard from the vinedressers. And they took him and beat him and sent him away empty-handed. Mark 12:2-3 (NKJV)

Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience. But let these also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless. Likewise their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things. Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 3:8-13 (NKJV)
Jesus, bring our clergy into a life of spiritual discipline.

But now, O LORD, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our potter; and all we are the work of Your hand. Isaiah 64:8 (NKJV)
Father, you are the potter, I am the clay. Remold me by you Spirit for Jesus' sake.

LORD, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? He who walks uprightly, and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart; he who does not backbite with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but he honors those who fear the LORD; he who swears to his own hurt and does not change; he who does not put out his money at usury, nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. he who does these things shall never be moved. Psalm 15:1-5 (NKJV)

So they came to Jerusalem. Then Jesus went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. And He would not allow anyone to carry wares through the temple. Then He taught, saying to them, "Is it not written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations'? But you have made it a 'den of thieves.' " Mark 11:15-17 (NKJV)
Jesus, cleanse your churches of every impurity and make them temples of prayer and praise.

So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says." Mark 11:22-23 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, set me free from doubts and fears.

"And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses." Mark 11:25-26 (NKJV)
Father, set me free from all resentments.

in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 1 Timothy 2:9 (NKJV)
Father, I pray that you will restore modesty of dress to the men and women of this nation.

In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the Angel of His Presence saved them; in his love and in His pity He redeemed them; and He bore them and carried them all the days of old. Isaiah 63:9 (NKJV)
Father, thank you for being with us in all our afflictions.

Unto You I lift up my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, until He has mercy on us. Psalm 123:1-2 (NKJV)
Have mercy on us, O LORD, have mercy on us! For we are exceedingly filled with contempt. Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorn of those who are at ease, with the contempt of the proud. Psalm 123:3-4 (NKJV)

A word received: Pray for my little ones who are held in contempt by the rich and the powerful.

Prayer Request: Please pray for vocations to the Sisters of St. Mary.

Now when they drew near Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples; and He said to them, "Go into the village opposite you; and as soon as you have entered it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has sat. Loose it and bring it. And if anyone says to you, 'Why are you doing this?' say, 'The Lord has need of it,' and immediately he will send it here." Mark 11:1-3 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us do the ministry Jesus gives us, even when we don't understand its purpose at the time.

Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: "Hosanna! 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!' Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!" Mark 11:9-10 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help us express our Hosannas.

As I urged you when I went into Macedonia--remain in Ephesus that you may charge some that they teach no other doctrine, nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith. 1 Timothy 1:3-4 (NKJV)
Lord, your church is filled with both liberal and conservative ideology rather than the gospel. Lord, let the preaching we hear be for our godly edification so that we are built up in faith.

And gave their land as a heritage, a heritage to Israel His people. Psalm 135:12 (NKJV)
Father, please help us enter in the heritage you have prepared for us.

The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they do not speak; eyes they have, but they do not see; they have ears, but they do not hear; nor is there any breath in their mouths. Those who make them are like them; so is everyone who trusts in them. Psalm 135:15-18 (NKJV)
Jesus, set us free from the idolatries of money and success.

A word received: You don't need to be afraid. Give your fears to me.

Prayer Request: Pray for vocations to the Sisters of St. Mary.

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." John 8:12 (NKJV)
Jesus, please help me daily see and walk by your light.

Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 John 2:3-4 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me keep your commandments so that I may know Jesus and hear the truth.

But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 1 John 2:5 (NKJV)
Lord, perfect your love and word in me.

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. Psalm 19:1 (NKJV)
LORD, help me join that chorus of praise to you.

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; Psalm 19:7 (NKJV)
Jesus, convert my soul by your word and Holy Spirit.

Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, and I shall be innocent of great transgression. Psalm 19:12-13 (NKJV)
Father, cleanse me from my secret faults and let them not have dominion over me.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, take control of my mouth.

A word received: I Am with you in times of joy and trouble. Keep turning to me for my help.

Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" Mark 10:46-47 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, give me a heart to cry out to Jesus in my hour of need.

Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" Mark 10:48 (NKJV)
Jesus, please help us repent of wanting order more than your healing work.

So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, "Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you." Mark 10:49 (NKJV)
Jesus, help us hear your call to us.

And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. Mark 10:50 (NKJV)
Father, help me case aside anything that impedes me going to Jesus.

So Jesus answered and said to him, "What do you want Me to do for you?" The blind man said to Him, "Rabboni, that I may receive my sight." Mark 10:51 (NKJV)
Lord Jesus, help me receive my sight to that I can see what you are doing among us.

Then Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your faith has made you well." And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road. Mark 10:52 (NKJV)
Father, please give me healing faith as you did with Bartimaeus.

A word received: Pray for eyes to see my work.

But Jesus called them to Himself and said to them, "You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." Mark 10:42-45 (NKJV)
Jesus, please give me a servant's heart like yours.

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please give us discernment of such people and hearts to turn away from them.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me read Scripture in a way that equipts me to do your will.

"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified." Isaiah 61:1-3 (NKJV)
Father, raise up witnesses to the poor and broken hearted who will comfort them.

Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom. Psalm 51:6 (NKJV)
Father, please give me an inward heart of truth.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart-- these, O God, You will not despise. Psalm 51:17 (NKJV)
Lord, give me a broken and contrite heart.

Prayer request: I am scheduled to have my left hip replace March 17th.

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying, "Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask." Mark 10:35 (NKJV)
Jesus, please help me pray according to your will, not mine.

But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able." So Jesus said to them, "You will indeed drink the cup that I drink, and with the baptism I am baptized with you will be baptized; Mark 10:38-39 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, set me free from all pride-filled prayers about what I will do or not do. Please give me strength for each day's task.

Lord Jesus Christ, we are in such days now; have mercy on us.

But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:13-17 (NKJV)
Father, open my heart to your word in Scripture so that I may gain your true wisdom.

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. Isaiah 61:10 (NKJV)
LORD, please help me find my joy in you.

You who love the LORD, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked. Psalm 97:10 (NKJV)

They said, "Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to dismiss her." And Jesus answered and said to them, "Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. But from the beginning of the creation, God 'made them male and female.' 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate." In the house His disciples also asked Him again about the same matter. Mark 10:4-10 (NKJV)
Jesus, reestablish marriage in our culture.

Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. Mark 10:13-16 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us receive and welcome children as Jesus did.

You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 2:1 (NKJV)

Then the LORD saw it, and it displeased Him That there was no justice. He saw that there was no man, And wondered that there was no intercessor; Therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him; And His own righteousness, it sustained Him. Isaiah 59:15b-16 (NKJV)

"But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea. Mark 9:42 (NKJV)
Lord, there are so many sources of trouble for youth in our society that are freely available: drugs, alcohol, pornography, sexualized advertising. Have mercy on us and turn this nation around.
A word received (11/18/06) Pray for the day of my threshing. Pray that none of the wheat will be lost with the chaff. Pray for my little ones who are being led astray by lies. Pray for my will to be done.
Please burn away all the chaff in our lives and help us bear fruit worthy of repentance.

"But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea. If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched Mark 9:42-43 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us recognize in our own lives those things which drag us down and repent of them.

Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 2 Timothy 1:6 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help stir up the gifts you have given us.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me recognize my fears for what they are and repent of them.

For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. 2 Timothy 1:12 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me know you more where you have blessed us.

"Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; when you see the naked, that you cover him, and not hide yourself from your own flesh? Those from among you shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In. Isaiah 58:12 (NKJV)

For He taught His disciples and said to them, "The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him. And after He is killed, He will rise the third day." Mark 9:31 (NKJV)
Lord Jesus, teach us, even when it is hard stuff.

But they did not understand this saying, and were afraid to ask Him. Mark 9:32 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, give me discernment of what Jesus is saying to us.

But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him, for no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of Me. "For he who is not against us is on our side. For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward." Mark 9:39-41 (NKJV)
Father, set us free from political thinking in the church and accept all those who follow Jesus. Thank you for all those who have refreshed us.

As many as desire to make a good showing in the flesh, these would compel you to be circumcised, only that they may not suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. Galatians 6:12 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, set us free from captivity to the cultural norms of our society.

"I create the fruit of the lips: peace, peace to him who is far off and to him who is near," says the LORD, "and I will heal him." Isaiah 57:19 (NKJV)
LORD, anoint my lips so that I speak you words of peace.

For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, nor shall evil dwell with You. Psalm 5:4 (NKJV)
Jesus, bring new life to all those who take pleasure in wickedness.

Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make Your way straight before my face. Psalm 5:8 (NKJV)
Jesus, make your path straight before me.

But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You. Psalm 5:11 (NKJV)

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink." John 7:37 (NKJV)
Lord, I come to you to drink.

"He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." John 7:38 (NKJV)
Jesus, I believe -- let your river of living water flow out of my heart.

But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 7:39 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, come upon all those who believe in Jesus.

Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, "Why have you not brought Him?" The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this Man!" Then the Pharisees answered them, "Are you also deceived? Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him? But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed." John 7:45-49 (NKJV)
Father, so many of the educated elite in this country hold the common people in contempt. Please help them repent of this and heal the wounds in our body politic. Thank you.

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, Hebrews 12:1 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help me hear that cloud of witnesses.

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 (NKJV)

And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: "My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by him; for whom the LORD loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives." Hebrews 12:5-6 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me count it all joy when I am chastised for the sake of the gospel.

Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!" Mark 9:24 (NKJV)
Jesus, as I face "impossible" problems in life, help me believe in you and trust that you will be the solution.

So He said to them, "This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting." Mark 9:29 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, bring your people to a life of prayer and fasting.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:25 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me walk in your ways.

Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. Galatians 5:26 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, set me free of envying the lives and ministries of others.

Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2 (NKJV)
Father, please teach me how to do this.

For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. Galatians 6:8 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me sow in your Spirit so that I bring forth a fruitful crop.

"Also the sons of the foreigner who join themselves to the LORD, to serve Him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be His servants -- everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath, and holds fast My covenant -- even them I will bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations." Isaiah 56:6-7 (NKJV)

And a cloud came and overshadowed them; and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!" Mark 9:7 (NKJV)
Father, please help us hear what Jesus is saying to us today.

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me walk in your Spirit.

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me recognize and shun the works of the flesh in my life.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Galatians 5:22-24 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me find the freedom in you to live these out in my life.

"Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Isaiah 55:1 (NKJV)
Lord, I come to you empty-handed, thirsty for more of you in my life.

Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance. Isaiah 55:2 (NKJV)
Father, help me spend my money on what will truly satisfy.

Seek the LORD while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Isaiah 55:6 (NKJV)
LORD, I call to you; I seek you. Help me find you day by day.

Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young-- even Your altars, O LORD of hosts, my King and my God. Psalm 84:3 (NKJV)

Now Jesus and His disciples went out to the towns of Caesarea Philippi; and on the road He asked His disciples, saying to them, "Who do men say that I am?" So they answered, "John the Baptist; but some say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets." He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered and said to Him, "You are the Christ." Mark 8:27-29 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me answer this question as Peter did rather than as the world thinks.

And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. He spoke this word openly. And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. But when He had turned around and looked at His disciples, He rebuked Peter, saying, "Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men." Mark 8:31-33 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me accept your correction and lay aside my ideas of what should be.

When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, "Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. Mark 8:34 (NKJV)
Father, please help me deny myself and take up the cross of Jesus.

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. Galatians 5:1 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me stand fast on the rock of my salvation -- Jesus.

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. Galatians 5:6 (NKJV)
Jesus, let faith in you work its way through my life and bring forth love.

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 (NKJV)
Father, please help me walk in your Spirit.

"Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; do not spare; lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes. Isaiah 54:2 (NKJV)
Father, thank you for enlarging my tent and for all the children you have given me.

All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children. Isaiah 54:13 (NKJV)
LORD, do this mighty work in my children and theirs.

I love the LORD, because He has heard my voice and my supplications. Psalm 116:1 (NKJV)
LORD, thank you for hearing me.

A word received: Look to me for help when times are dark.

Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, and they did not have more than one loaf with them in the boat. Then He charged them, saying, "Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod." And they reasoned among themselves, saying, "It is because we have no bread." But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, "Why do you reason because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive nor understand? Is your heart still hardened? Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember? Mark 8:14-18 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us see and hear and remember the things Jesus has done in our lives.

When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments did you take up?" They said to Him, "Twelve." "Also, when I broke the seven for the four thousand, how many large baskets full of fragments did you take up?" And they said, "Seven." So He said to them, "How is it you do not understand?" Mark 8:19-21 (NKJV)
Jesus, please give us understanding of your bounty.

Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law? Galatians 4:21 (NKJV)
Father, please help us recognize when we desire to be under the law again, and repent of that.

For it is written: "Rejoice, O barren, you who do not bear! Break forth and shout, you who are not in labor! For the desolate has many more children than she who has a husband." Galatians 4:27 (NKJV)
Lord Jesus, make our lives fruitful where they are currently barren.

He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. Isaiah 53:3-4 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you that you know and understand our sorrows.

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)
Lord, we have wounded you by our transgressions.

Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong, because He poured out His soul unto death, and He was numbered with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. Isaiah 53:12 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for interceding for us.

I will praise the LORD according to His righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High. Psalm 7:17 (NKJV)
LORD, help me recognize and praise your righteousness.

How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, and You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light. Psalm 36:7-9 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me drink deeply of your fountain of living waters and life.

A word received: You are in my hand; don't be afraid. I AM with you.
