So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs." John 21:15 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me love Jesus before all others.

He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Tend My sheep." John 21:16 (NKJV)
Father, help me love Jesus by tending the sheep in his flock.

He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep." John 21:17 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me feed your sheep with your living word.

Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish." John 21:18 (NKJV)
Jesus, I don't know how my life will end, but I leave that in your hands.

This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, "Follow Me." John 21:19 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me choose to follow Jesus wherever he leads.

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for "love will cover a multitude of sins." 1 Peter 4:8 (NKJV)
Father, bring me to that same fervent love that Jesus has.

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 1 Peter 4:10 (NKJV)
LORD, help me stop grumbling and become a good steward of your grace.

Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Oh, give thanks to the God of gods! For His mercy endures forever. Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords! For His mercy endures forever: Psalm 136:1-3 (NKJV)
Thank you, LORD, for enduring merciful goodness to me.

And the devil said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread." Luke 4:3 (NKJV)
Jesus, protect me from temptations of the flesh.

And the devil said to Him, "All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish." Luke 4:6 (NKJV)
Jesus, protect me from temptations of power and position.

Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here." Luke 4:9 (NKJV)
Jesus, protect me from temptations of misusing your word..

And Jesus answered and said to him, "It has been said, 'You shall not tempt the LORD your God.' " Luke 4:12 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me daily abide in your word to me.

For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, 1 John 3:11 (NKJV)
Father, your message to us has not changed.

We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. 1 John 3:14 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help us leave death behind and enter a life of love for the brethren.

But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:17-18 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, give me an open heart to love in deed and in truth.

Therefore, because the king's command was urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. Daniel 3:22 (NKJV)
Lord, death come to those who obey evil orders.

Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, "Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God! Daniel 3:28 (NKJV)
Father, help me trust you as these three men did.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1 (NKJV)
      Jesus, please shepherd me today.

He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. Psalm 23:2 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, still my soul as Jesus leads me.

He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Psalm 23:3 (NKJV)
Father, restore my soul in righteousness.

as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying: "The voice of one crying in the wilderness: 'Prepare the way of the LORD; make His paths straight. Every valley shall be filled and every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made straight and the rough ways smooth; and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.' " Luke 3:4-6 (NKJV)
Lord, prepare your way in my heart and make all the crooked places straight in my heart and mind. Let me see your salvation worked out in my life.

Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. Luke 3:8 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help me have the fruit of repentance and lay aside all excuses.

And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming. 1 John 2:28 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me abide in you and set me free from all shame.

He will subdue the peoples under us, and the nations under our feet. Psalm 47:3 (NKJV)
LORD, subdue us and set us free from love of worldly pleasures. Bring this nation to new life in you.

John answered, saying to all, "I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. Luke 3:16 (NKJV)
Jesus, come among us and baptize us with you Holy Spirit and with fire.

His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather the wheat into His barn; but the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire." Luke 3:17 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, burn away the chaff in my life.

And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, "You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased." Luke 3:22 (NKJV)
Father, give us all your Spirit of Adoption.

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. 1 John 3:1-3 (NKJV)
Father, thank you for the purifying hope you give us.

Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. 1 John 3:6 (NKJV)
Father, help me daily abide in Jesus.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up." Daniel 3:16-18 (NKJV)
Lord, the issues have not changed in all these years: But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." Acts 4:19-20 (NKJV)

But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave, For He shall receive me. Psalm 49:15 (NKJV)
God, I await your day of redemption from the power of the grave.

A word received: Keep sharing the good news of what I have done in your life.

"I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;" John 17:20 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for those who brought me to faith through their words and actions.

"that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me." John 17:21 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, bring us to unity in the Body of Christ so that others will believe.

"O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me. And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them." John 17:25-26 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for making your Father known to us.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. 1 John 2:15-16 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, set me free from love of the world and its false treasures.

Daniel answered and said: "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. Daniel 2:20 (NKJV)
Thank you, God, for giving us wisdom to face the challenges of life.

Moses and Aaron were among His priests, and Samuel was among those who called upon His name; they called upon the LORD, and He answered them. Psalm 99:6 (NKJV)
LORD, we too call upon your name.
(Blessing adapted from the Anglican Christian community in Ceylon, Pakistan, and India:)
May the Name of Jesus, the Son of God, who is mightier than all the hosts of Satan, and more glorious than all the angels of heaven, abide with us in our going out and our coming in; by day and by night; at morning and at evening; at all times and in all places.
May the Name of Jesus, the Son of God, protect and deliver us from the wrath of evil persons; from the assaults of evil spirits; from foes invisible; from the snares of the Evil One; and from all low passions that beguile the soul and body.
May the Name of Jesus protect and deliver us.
And the blessing of God Almighty, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit be with us this day and always. Amen.

I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. John 17:14 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please teach me how to "not be of the world."

I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. John 17:15 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for interceding for me so that I shall be kept from the evil one.

Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. John 17:17 (NKJV)
Father, make me holy by your word of truth.

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 1 John 2:1 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for being my advocate.

Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining. 1 John 2:8 (NKJV)
Jesus, please help me love the brethren.

Oh, sing to the LORD a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory. Psalm 98:1 (NKJV)
LORD, gain the victory for us.

PRAYER TABLE REPORT -- St. Ann's of Amsterdam --(Monday, April 17, 2017, 9:45-10:45 a.m. on the lawn in front of our church on Division Street. James Bryant, Rebecca Lohmeyer and Deacon Alan presiding at His table this fine day.) -- Surprisingly, not as many people out and about today even though the schools are closed for Easter break, the weather was nice, etc. You just never know. --
SCENES -- We gave out all the free, non-perishable food and materials at the table save for a few rolls of paper goods. (The neighbors who did come were mostly our regular visitors who we know are quite in need. We are glad to help them get through the week with enough food. ... Many thanks to recent donations of clean, used (and sometimes new!) clothing, which was gratefully taken by our neighbors. A special thank you to the Santiago family and to Adrian Catucci for their generous donations.
PRAYER CONCERNS -- Please join in praying for CONSUELA, who has already been to the table many times for prayers of healing against a serious illness (God knows the details) and now is worried about upcoming eye surgery next week. ... Two women (no names given) who came for the first time sought prayer and prayer alone (for private concerns) and then each took one of the wooden crosses made by Dennis Adams of North Carolina. Pray with us for them. APPEAL -- We would be grateful for any warmer weather clothing items you could donate. Now that the warmer weather is here (or almost here!) we can use your help. Most of what we have on hand to give out tends to be for the colder months. We will be storing that away now that the Spring/Summer time is here. God bless you and thank you for your contributions and intercessory prayers.

Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." John 17:1-3 (NKJV)
Father, thank you for giving me to Jesus and for helping me know him and you.

"Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are." John 17:11 (NKJV)
Father, keep us in peace and unity.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:8-9 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for the cleansing power of confession.

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Daniel 1:8 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, keep me undefiled by the world and its delicacies.

As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. Daniel 1:17 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, give us your gifts as well.

You who love the LORD, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked. Psalm 97:10 (NKJV)
      LORD, preserve my soul.

Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. Psalm 97:12 (NKJV)
Father, help me daily rejoice in you.

Holy Spirit, guide me on this journey to our Father's house where Jesus has prepared a place for me.

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." John 14:3 (NKJV)
Jesus, I long to be received in your arms with all the saints in glory.

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:6 (NKJV)
Father, have mercy on those who fudge the gospel and say there is some other way to you besides Jesus.

"If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him." John 14:7 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help me know Jesus and his Father better each day.

Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, 1 Peter 2:1-2 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me lay aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking and desire only the pure milk of the word.

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for calling me out of darkness.

Your testimonies are very sure; Holiness adorns Your house, O LORD, forever. Psalm 93:5 (NKJV)

"Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you." John 16:7 (NKJV)
Jesus, please send the Helper to me each day.

"However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you." John 16:13-14 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, guide me in the truth and help me glorify Jesus.

However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand. Acts 4:4 (NKJV)
Father, help me hear the word of your witnesses and believe.

"Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12 (NKJV)

Jesus, help me proclaim your salvation each day.

For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with His truth. Psalm 96:13 (NKJV)

Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be with you." John 20:19 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for breaking through all our fears and coming to us with your peace.

So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you." John 20:21 (NKJV)
Here am I, Lord, send me.

And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. John 20:22 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me receive all of the Holy Spirit that you have for me.

Now behold, two of them were traveling that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was seven miles from Jerusalem. And they talked together of all these things which had happened. So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them. But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him. And He said to them, "What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad?" Luke 24:13-17 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for the fellowship you have given me where we can talk over what we have seen you do. Thank you for coming into the conversation with us.

Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight. Luke 24:30-31 (NKJV)
Help me recognize you, Jesus, in the breaking of bread.

So the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with singing, with everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness; sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Isaiah 51:11 (NKJV)
Father, thank you for the hope and the joy of the resurrection you give us.

And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. John 1:5 (NKJV)
Thank you for overcoming my darkness.

Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats. Exodus 12:5 (NKJV)
Father, please help me give you unblemished sacrifice.

Father, you have adopted me as your child; help me bring you glory.

But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. John 17:13 (NKJV)

O GOD, who spares when we deserve punishment, and in your wrath remembers mercy; we humbly beseech you, of your goodness, to comfort and succour all prisoners [especially those who are condemned to die]. Give them a right understanding of themselves, and of your promises; that, trusting wholly in your mercy, they may not place their confidence anywhere but in you. Relieve the distressed, protect the innocent, awaken the guilty; and forasmuch as you alone bring light out of darkness, and good out of evil, grant to these your servants, that by the power of your Holy Spirit they may be set free from the chains of sin and death, and may be brought to newness of life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. [from the BCP]

Now there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast. Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, "Sir, we wish to see Jesus." John 12:20-21 (NKJV)
Jesus, I was once an alien to the people of God and people led me to you. Thank you.

"Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life." John 12:24-25 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me die to myself so that I can produce an abundant crop of righteousness.

Jesus, I wait on you; you are the God of my salvation.

The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way. Psalm 25:9 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, bring me to the humility where I will be teachable.

A word received: Wait for me. I will see you through it all.

Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead. But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also, because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus. John 12:9-11 (NKJV)
Lord, help me surrender my will so that I don't even plot such evil.

The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: "Hosanna! 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!' The King of Israel!" John 12:12-13 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me cry out, "Hosanna!" to Jesus.

"Fear not, daughter of Zion; Behold, your King is coming, Sitting on a donkey's colt." John 12:15 (NKJV)
Jesus, as you come more and more intomy life, help me set aside my fears.

The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, "You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!" John 12:19 (NKJV)
Jesus, I pray that you will win the victory among our brothers and sisters in Egypt and the Middle East, or wherever they are persecuted.

For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh, Philippians 3:3 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me find my confidence in you and not in what my flesh can do.

Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; Philippians 3:8-9 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me be found in you and your righteousness.

I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14 (NKJV)
Father, help me daily press on to your upward call.

You have planted them, yes, they have taken root; they grow, yes, they bear fruit. You are near in their mouth but far from their mind. Jeremiah 12:2 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, be in my mind and on my tongue.

I will lift up my eyes to the hills-- from whence comes my help? Psalm 121:1 (NKJV)
LORD, you are my help and my strength.

A word received: You are in my care; that is sufficient.

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber." John 10:1 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me enter the sheepfold by the way you have set.

"And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers." John 10:4-5 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me hearken only to your voice.

"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." John 10:10 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me enter Jesus' move abundant life.

"I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep." John 10:14-15 (NKJV)
Thank you, Jesus, for laying your life down for me.

"No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father." John 10:18 (NKJV)
Father, thank you for the power you gave Jesus to lay his life down for me.

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!" Romans 10:14-15 (NKJV)
Father, please help me daily share the good news of what you have done through Jesus.

Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful. Psalm 147:1 (NKJV)
Father, help me live surrounded by your praises.

The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy. Psalm 147:11 (NKJV)
Father, help me fear you and hope in your mercy.

A word received: Look to me for help in the storm.

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me enter the life of your Spirit more and more each day.

From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. John 6:66 (NKJV)
Father, I pray for those who have walked away from Jesus, that they will return to him.

But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. John 6:68 (NKJV)
Jesus, help us by your Holy Spirit to hear and receive your words of life.

That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted as the seed. Romans 9:8 (NKJV)
Father, help me be a child of your promises.

Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens. Romans 9:18 (NKJV)
Father, have mercy on me and soften my heart.

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God. Psalm 43:5 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, daily raise me up to hope and praise.

A word received: Listen to me; listen to my word to you.
