2017 05 30-31

2017 05 30

But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues. You will be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. Matthew 10:17-18 (NKJV)
Jesus, I trust you will be there with me through it all.

But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. Matthew 10:19-20 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, thank you for giving me the words to speak in my hour of need.

Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. Matthew 10:21 (NKJV)
Lord, protect our family from division. Help us find our unity in you.

And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved. Matthew 10:22 (NKJV)
Father, give me endurance to the end.

A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household! Matthew 10:24-25 (NKJV)
Jesus, I want to be your disciple, whatever the cost.

"Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. Matthew 10:27 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me speak what I hear you say.

"Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. Matthew 10:32 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me along with all your saints "make the good confession."

And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. Matthew 10:38 (NKJV)
Jesus, please help me daily take up my cross.

He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it. Matthew 10:39 (NKJV)
Father, help me find new life in Jesus through your Holy Spirit.

And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward." Matthew 10:42 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me give cold, living water to your little ones.

A word received: I Am with you in your loneliness. You are not alone.

2017 05 31

Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name." Luke 10:17 (NKJV)
Jesus, it is your name that is above every name.

And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven." Luke 10:18-20 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me keep in mind where true joy is to be found.

Then He turned to His disciples and said privately, "Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see; for I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard it." Luke 10:23-24 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for the many times I have gotten to see you at work.

For He testifies: "You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek." Hebrews 7:17 (NKJV)
Jesus, you are my priest forever. I look to you for guidance and instruction.

Therefore say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "I will gather you from the peoples, assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel." ' Ezekiel 11:17 (NKJV)
      LORD, gather your scattered people.

And they will go there, and they will take away all its detestable things and all its abominations from there. Ezekiel 11:18 (NKJV)
Father, help us renounce everything that is detestable in your sight.

Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, Ezekiel 11:19 (NKJV)
Jesus, please put your Spirit in us and give us circumcised hearts of flesh.

Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at His holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy. Psalm 99:9 (NKJV)
LORD, help me exalt you in all that I do and say and am. Help me exalt you in my worship.

A word received: Pray that my people will have ears to hear me, eyes to see me, and hearts to follow me.

Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, Luke 9:51 (NKJV)
Jesus, please help me to be steadfast as you were and go forward on the path you have marked out for me.

And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Hebrews 6:11-12 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help me to inherit the promises of God.

Blessed be the LORD, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth. Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped. our help is in the name of the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. Psalm 124:6-8 (NKJV)
Thank you, LORD, for rescuing me.

A word received: Pray for attentive ears to hear me.

"Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven." Matthew 10:32-33 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help me confess Jesus before others.

"And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward." Matthew 10:42 (NKJV)
Father, help me give those cups of cold water to your little ones.

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. Ephesians 2:1-3 (NKJV)
Jesus, I was once dead in trespasses, but now I am alive in you. Thank you.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:8-10 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for your saving work in my life.

When I say to the wicked, 'You shall surely die,' and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. Ezekiel 3:18 (NKJV)
Father, please help me repent of not sharing your words of warning with those who need to hear them.

But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you shall say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD.' He who hears, let him hear; and he who refuses, let him refuse; for they are a rebellious house. Ezekiel 3:27 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me speak when spoken to by you.

Praise the LORD, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples! For His merciful kindness is great toward us, and the truth of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD! Psalm 117:1-2 (NKJV)
LORD, help me come into your courts with praise and thanksgiving for your merciful kindness.

And as he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him. Then Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and gave him back to his father. And they were all amazed at the majesty of God. Luke 9:42-43a (NKJV)
Holy Father, help me be in awe of what you are doing through Jesus.

But while everyone marveled at all the things which Jesus did, He said to His disciples, "Let these words sink down into your ears, for the Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men." But they did not understand this saying, and it was hidden from them so that they did not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask Him about this saying. Luke 9:43b-45 (NKJV)
Let your words hidden from us be revealed to us, Jesus.

Then a dispute arose among them as to which of them would be greatest. And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a little child and set him by Him, and said to them, "Whoever receives this little child in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me. For he who is least among you all will be great." Luke 9:46-48 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us receive and nurture the children you send us.

Now John answered and said, "Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us." But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side." Luke 9:49-50 (NKJV)
Jesus, don't let me exclude any who follows you.

though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. Hebrews 5:8 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me learn obedience, even if it means suffering.

Then He said to me: "Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with My words to them. Ezekiel 3:4 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me speak your word to your church.

"Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me" Ezekiel 3:17 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us be watchmen for the Body of Christ and speak your words of warning.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Psalm 23:1-3 (NKJV)
Jesus, be the shepherd of my soul and restore it.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4 (NKJV)
Lord, I have walked through that valley and you were there to comfort and guide me. Thank you.

Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. Matthew 28:16-17 (NKJV)
Jesus, have mercy on me when I doubt; and renew your Holy Spirit in my life.

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Matthew 28:18 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me abide under Jesus' authority.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Matthew 28:19 (NKJV)
Holy Trinity, One God, help me go forth making disciples for you.

teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. Matthew 28:20 (NKJV)
Jesus, please give me the gift of teaching your word.

And again: "I will put My trust in Him." And again: "Here am I and the children whom God has given Me." Hebrews 2:13 (NKJV)
Father, I trust you to make me into the father you want me to be.

For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted. Hebrews 2:18 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me in my times of temptation.

Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph! For the LORD Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth. Psalm 47:1-2 (NKJV)
Jesus, be king of my heart.

For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding. Psalm 47:7 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, give me understanding as I praise God.

A word received: Look to me in your loneliness and I will be your companion.

And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease [Gk: exodus] which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. Luke 9:30-31 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for the new exodus by which you have set us free from the bondage of sin.

And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!" Luke 9:35 (NKJV)
Father, please give us ears and hearts to hear your son Jesus.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me by your Holy Spirit to come boldly to your throne of grace for help in time of need.

"And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you dwell among scorpions; do not be afraid of their words or dismayed by their looks, though they are a rebellious house." Ezekiel 2:6 (NKJV)
LORD, we live among a rebellious people: set us free from fear and help us keep our eyes on you.

Why should I fear in the days of evil, When the iniquity at my heels surrounds me? Psalm 49:5 (NKJV)
LORD, you are my rock of refuge; I will not fear.

But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave, For He shall receive me. Psalm 49:15 (NKJV)
Jesus, I put my hope in you to redeem me from the power of the grave.

SCENES -- Sorry I have not posted reports in a timely manner. No excuses; just busy doing things. ... Lots of folks from the neighborhood have stopped by each of the past two Mondays, and they are grateful for the many terrific articles of clean, used (and sometimes new!) clothing that thoughtful parishioners have brought in. Particular thanks go out to Yolie and to Elaine for the generous recent contributions they brought in. We also have helped feed many needy people in our neighborhood with the free, non-perishable food we offer.
PRAYER CONCERNS -- Every prayer table session is different. On the 15th, nine people came up for prayer, and in some cases for prayer alone. But on the 22nd, we only got to pray for two people. One was an infant girl named MIA. What a sweetheart she is. Also please pray for MARIA who continues to have a serious prayer concern. The Lord knows the details. .... Thank you for your contributions of food and clothing and for your intercessory prayer support. In this ministry, our church lives out the gospel commandment of loving our neighbors.

Then He said to His disciples, "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing." Luke 12:22-23 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for the comfort and assurance you give us.

"And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you." Luke 12:29-31 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me get my priorities straight and seek your kingdom.

Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. James 5:13-14 (NKJV)
Father, in all things help me turn to you.

Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit. James 5:17-18 (NKJV)
Jesus, I pray for a downpour of your Holy Spirit.

Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Psalm 118:1 (NKJV)
Father, thank you for your goodness and mercy.

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. Psalm 118:8 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me daily put my trust in you.

The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation. Psalm 118:14 (NKJV)
LORD, fill my heart with songs of rejoicing.

Save now, I pray, O LORD; O LORD, I pray, send now prosperity. Psalm 118:25 (NKJV)
LORD, I pray that you will prosper the poor in our community and provide for them day by day.

Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples." Luke 11:1 (NKJV)
Lord Jesus, teach us to pray as you taught your disciples.

So He said to them, "When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Luke 11:2 (NKJV)
Father, please help me keep your name holy.

Give us day by day our daily bread. Luke 11:3 (NKJV)
Father, we look to you for our daily provision.

And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Luke 11:4 (NKJV)
Father, help me stop "keeping score" and forgive those indebted to me.

I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs. Luke 11:8 (NKJV)
Father, thank you that I can turn to you for help at any hour of the day or night.

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" Luke 11:13 (NKJV)
Father, please help me receive more of your Holy Spirit.

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; James 1:19 (NKJV)
To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; Ecclesiastes 3:1,7 (NKJV)

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me be a doer of your word.

But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. James 1:25 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me look into that perfect law of liberty that you offer me.

Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. James 1:27 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me see and help the orphans and widows in their hour of need. Don't let me be blinded by the world's wisdom.

when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the flinty rock; Deuteronomy 8:14-15 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for bringing me living water out of the rock day by day.

Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped. Luke 8:43-44 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me reach out to Jesus for healing as this woman did.

And He said to her, "Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace." Luke 8:48 (NKJV)
Jesus, I pray that my faith will make me well and that I can go forth in good cheer.

Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another. Romans 14:19 (NKJV)
Father, help me pursue those things which build up the Body of Christ.

As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings, Deuteronomy 32:11 (NKJV)
Jesus, carry me on your wings.

Why should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity at my heels surrounds me? Those who trust in their wealth and boast in the multitude of their riches, none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him--for the redemption of their souls is costly, and it shall cease forever--that he should continue to live eternally, and not see the Pit. Psalm 49:5-9 (NKJV)
Jesus thank you for paying the cost of my ransom. I will set my fear aside and trust in you.

A man who is in honor, yet does not understand, is like the beasts that perish. Psalm 49:20 (NKJV)
      LORD, give the President wisdom.

A word received: Look to me for hope that does not disappoint.

Another parable He put forth to them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared." Matthew 13:24-26 (NKJV)
Jesus, please help me recognize the tares in my life for what they are. [Tares were sometimes called "bastard wheat" because the two plants looked identical until harvest time when their heads became quite different.]

"So the servants of the owner came and said to him, 'Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?' He said to them, 'An enemy has done this.' The servants said to him, 'Do you want us then to go and gather them up?' But he said, 'No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn." ' " Matthew 13:27-30 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, show me when and how to uproot the tares in my life.

Another parable He put forth to them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches." Matthew 13:31-32 (NKJV)
Father, help me know even the least of the gifts you have given to me so that my growth shall be in them.

Another parable He spoke to them: "The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened." Matthew 13:33 (NKJV)
Jesus, mix the leaven of your Holy Spirit throughout my life.

A word received: I AM with you in your weakness as well as your strength.

And it happened, as He was alone praying, that His disciples joined Him, and He asked them, saying, "Who do the crowds say that I am?" Luke 9:18 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us be disciples who join with Jesus in prayer.

He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered and said, "The Christ of God." Luke 9:20 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, prepare our hearts to answer this question.

Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me." Luke 9:23 (NKJV)
Jesus, I so want to cling to the past; help me leave that and take up my cross and follow you.

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. James 1:2-3 (NKJV)
Father, help me find the joy that comes from being with Jesus as I overcome life's trials.

Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12 (NKJV)
      Jesus, help me endure temptation.

So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD. Deuteronomy 8:3 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me life by your word.

When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which He has given you. Deuteronomy 8:10 (NKJV)
LORD, I bless you for all that I have received from your hand.

"If it had not been the LORD who was on our side," Let Israel now say--"If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us alive, when their wrath was kindled against us; then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul; then the swollen waters would have gone over our soul." Blessed be the LORD, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth. Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. Psalm 124:1-8 (NKJV)

And when He stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons for a long time. And he wore no clothes, nor did he live in a house but in the tombs. Luke 8:27 (NKJV)
Lord, so many live in their tombs; set them free and bring them to new life.

"Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you." And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him. Luke 8:39 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us share with our families the great things Jesus has done for us.

For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living. Romans 14:7-9 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for being Lord for Jean. Be my Lord as well day by day.

"Thus says the LORD: 'Again there shall be heard in this place--of which you say, "It is desolate, without man and without beast"--in the cities of Judah, in the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without beast, the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who will say: "Praise the LORD of hosts, for the LORD is good, for His mercy endures forever"--and of those who will bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause the captives of the land to return as at the first,' says the LORD. Jeremiah 33:10-11 (NKJV)
Father, restore joy to the streets of our community. Help us bring a sacrifice of praise into your house.

A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation. Psalm 68:5 (NKJV)
Be a father to all those children caught up in the foster care system or who have fallen through the cracks.

O God, You are more awesome than Your holy places. The God of Israel is He who gives strength and power to His people. Blessed be God! Psalm 68:35 (NKJV)
O God, I look to you for strength.

Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, Luke 8:1 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me be a disciple who brings glad tidings of the kingdom of God.

and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities--Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance. Luke 8:2-3 (NKJV)
I pray your blessing Jesus on all women who minister you. Please raise up vocations to the Sisters of St. Mary.

And when a great multitude had gathered, and they had come to Him from every city, He spoke by a parable: "A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it. Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. But others fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold." When He had said these things He cried, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" Luke 8:4-8 (NKJV)
Jesus, sow the seed of your word in my heart and let there be good soil there to receive it. Let your word bear abundant fruit in my life.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1 (NKJV)
Jesus, please help me do this.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
      Holy Spirit, thansform my mind.

For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. Romans 12:4-8 (NKJV)
Father, help me live out the ministry you have given me.

Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Romans 12:15 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me do this.

And You have said to me, O Lord GOD, "Buy the field for money, and take witnesses"!--yet the city has been given into the hand of the Chaldeans.' " Jeremiah 32:25 (NKJV)
Father, help me follow your instructions even when I don't understand their purpose.

I love the LORD, because He has heard My voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live. The pains of death surrounded me, and the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow. Then I called upon the name of the LORD: "O LORD, I implore You, deliver my soul!" Psalm 116:1-4 (NKJV)
LORD, I implore you, deliver my soul from death.

A word received: I rejoice in every one of my children who come to me.

Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him." Luke 8:18 (NKJV)
Jesus, please give us ears to hear you.

But He answered and said to them, "My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it." Luke 8:21 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, bond me into that family of those who do Jesus' will.

Now it happened, on a certain day, that He got into a boat with His disciples. And He said to them, "Let us cross over to the other side of the lake." And they launched out. But as they sailed He fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water, and were in jeopardy. And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, "Master, Master, we are perishing!" Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm. But He said to them, "Where is your faith?" And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, "Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!" Luke 8:22-25 (NKJV)
Father, I pray for the faith that Jesus will rebuke the storms I am going through.

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience' sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God's ministers attending continually to this very thing. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor. Romans 13:1-7 (NKJV)
Lord Jesus, help us live this out in our day.

"For thus says the LORD: 'Just as I have brought all this great calamity on this people, so I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them. Jeremiah 32:42 (NKJV)
LORD, bring us through this time of confusion in our country to the good you have prepared for us.

The LORD reigns; let the peoples tremble! He dwells between the cherubim; let the earth be moved! Psalm 99:1 (NKJV)
King Jesus, come and rule and reign in our hearts.

Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at His holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy. Psalm 99:9 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, bring us to such worship!

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me daily ask, seek and knock to receive all that Jesus has for me.

Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Matthew 7:9-11 (NKJV)
Father, help us give what is good for our children.

"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:13-14 (NKJV)
Jesus, shepherd of my soul; help me daily enter in through your narrow gate.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (NKJV)
Holy Trinity, One God, help me enter into the everlasting consolation and good hope you offer me.

Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule with justice. Isaiah 32:1 (NKJV)
Father, raise up rulers and governors over us who will rule in righteousness. Thank you.

Also the schemes of the schemer are evil; he devises wicked plans to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaks justice. But a generous man devises generous things, and by generosity he shall stand. Isaiah 32:7-8 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, bring to repentance the evil schemers who would destroy the poor and bless those who are generous to those in need.

A word received: Don't be afraid in times of evil; I AM from everlasting and a sure refuge.

And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil. Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, "This man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner." Luke 7:37-39 (NKJV)
Lord Jesus, you know our thoughts even before we speak. Cleanse our minds of all impurity.

And Jesus answered and said to him, "Simon, I have something to say to you." So he said, "Teacher, say it." "There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?" Simon answered and said, "I suppose the one whom he forgave more." And He said to him, "You have rightly judged." Luke 7:40-43 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, let the cleansing fire of forgiveness flood our souls.

Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little." Then He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?" Then He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace." Luke 7:44-50 (NKJV)
Father, let the good that flows out of our hearts lead to deeds that bring us forgiveness as it did with this woman.

Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. Colossians 3:18-21 (NKJV)
Father, bring you order into the lives of our families. Help us see beyond our own cultural blinders to what you want.

Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:22-24 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us be good workers for our managers so that we may receive what you have prepared for us.

Masters, give your bondservants what is just and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven. Colossians 4:1 (NKJV)
LORD, transform the attitudes of managers toward their workers.

Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. Colossians 4:12 (NKJV)
Jesus, raise up men and women like Epaphras who will labor fervently in prayer for the saints of God.

And say to Archippus, "Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it." Colossians 4:17 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us take heed to fulfill the ministries you have given us.

"If it had not been the LORD who was on our side," Let Israel now say-- "If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, When men rose up against us, Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their wrath was kindled against us; Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, The stream would have gone over our soul; Then the swollen waters Would have gone over our soul." Psalm 124:1-5 (NKJV)

Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me." Luke 7:22-23 (NKJV)
Jesus, help us tell others what we have heard and seen you do.

And when all the people heard Him, even the tax collectors justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John. But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the will of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him. Luke 7:29-30 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us to be among those who submit their lives to your baptism and purposes.

And the Lord said, "To what then shall I liken the men of this generation, and what are they like? They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, saying: 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we mourned to you, and you did not weep.' For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, 'He has a demon.' The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' But wisdom is justified by all her children." Luke 7:31-35 (NKJV)
Father, please help us repent of thinking that Jesus should dance to our tune.

Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. Colossians 3:12-13 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for calling us to a life of forgiveness. Thank you for forgiving us; help us do the same to others.

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Colossians 3:15 (NKJV)
Lord, let your peace dwell in my heart.

For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul." After this I awoke and looked around, and my sleep was sweet to me. Jeremiah 31:25-26 (NKJV)
Father, thank you for the comfort you give my soul.

Those who are planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing, Psalm 92:13-14 (NKJV)
LORD, plant me in your house and help me bear good fruit in old age.

And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die. So when he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, pleading with Him to come and heal his servant. And when they came to Jesus, they begged Him earnestly, saying that the one for whom He should do this was deserving, "for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue." Luke 7:2-5 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help me respond to every call to be an intercessor for others.

Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, "Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." Luke 7:6-8 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me come to Jesus in humility of spirit.

Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, "Do not weep." Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, "Young man, I say to you, arise." So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother. Luke 7:11-15 (NKJV)
Jesus, have compassion on parents who lose their children.

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:1-2 (NKJV)
      Father, help me seek Jesus.

But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, Colossians 3:8-10 (NKJV)
So I said: "Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts." Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it, and said: "Behold, this has touched your lips; your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged." Isaiah 6:5-7 (NKJV)

Thus says the LORD: "Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; for your work shall be rewarded, says the LORD, and they shall come back from the land of the enemy. There is hope in your future, says the LORD, that your children shall come back to their own border. Jeremiah 31:16-17 (NKJV)
LORD, help me live in hope.

Why should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity at my heels surrounds me? Those who trust in their wealth and boast in the multitude of their riches, none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him-- for the redemption of their souls is costly, and it shall cease forever-- that he should continue to live eternally, and not see the Pit. Psalm 49:5-9 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, teach the wealthy of this land this wisdom and turn their hearts to Jesus.

But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave, for He shall receive me. Psalm 49:15 (NKJV)
Jesus, I await your redemption of my soul from death.

SCENES -- We've had colder and windier days for the table, of course. But it was in the low 40s and when some early arrivals started coming, some of them actually requested if we could do the table INDOORS today. We noticed that most of them were not dressed for cold weather, so we agreed to have the table inside in the Parish Hall. Two of the early birds, a mother (LINDA) and daughter (SALEEN) came inside and Cherie Nethaway and I invited them to join us in Morning Prayer. They accepted the invitation! They listened intently and said the Lord's Prayer with us! ... Many thanks to the contributions of non-perishable food and used, clean clothing we received this week. That makes it easier for us to feed and clothe the grateful people who come. .. About 25-30 people in all visited us this time.
PRAYER CONCERNS -- Please pray for BIANCA, who has private issues. The Lord knows the details. She took two of our wooden crosses made by Dennis Adams of North Carolina. ... MARIA asked for prayer and anointing. He daughter KABESHA is battling a serious illness.

And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother's eye. Luke 6:41-42 (NKJV)
Jesus, please give me clarity of sight so that I may see and repent of my sins.

"For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush." Luke 6:43-44 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me recognize the fruit I am actually producing in my life.

Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great." Luke 6:47-49 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me build only on you and word to me. There is so much building on sand around us that it has become the norm. Help me build for eternal life with you.

Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; Colossians 2:8-9 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, I am surrounded by empty philosophy and dead traditions; let the fullness of Jesus dwell in me.

In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, Colossians 2:11 (NKJV)
Jesus, bring me to the circumcision of my heart.

These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh. Colossians 2:23 (NKJV)
Father, please help me discern what is truly of value.

Thus says the LORD: "The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness-- Israel, when I went to give him rest." Jeremiah 31:2 (NKJV)
Father, thank you for your grace in the wilderness.

They shall come with weeping, and with supplications I will lead them. I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they shall not stumble; for I am a Father to Israel, and Ephraim is My firstborn. Jeremiah 31:9 (NKJV)
Father, help me walk without stumbling.

Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, streaming to the goodness of the LORD -- for wheat and new wine and oil, for the young of the flock and the herd; their souls shall be like a well-watered garden, and they shall sorrow no more at all. Jeremiah 31:12 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, make my soul a well-watered garden.

"I will satiate the soul of the priests with abundance, and My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the LORD." Jeremiah 31:14 (NKJV)
Jesus, help me to be satisfied with your goodness.

A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation. Psalm 68:5 (NKJV)

"Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Luke 6:37 (NKJV)

Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you." Luke 6:38 (NKJV)

I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. Psalm 9:1 (NKJV)
LORD, help me tell of all that you have done for me.

LORD, you are my refuge and I have put my trust in you.

Arise, O LORD, Do not let man prevail; let the nations be judged in Your sight. Put them in fear, O LORD, that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Psalm 9:19-20 (NKJV)

A book to read: WHEN GOD DOESN'T FIX IT by Laura Story

Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said: "Blessed are you poor, For yours is the kingdom of God. Luke 6:20 (NKJV)
Jesus, bless my poverty of spirit.

Blessed are you who hunger now, For you shall be filled. Luke 6:21a (NKJV)
Lord, I hunger for more of you.

Blessed are you who weep now, For you shall laugh. Luke 6:21b (NKJV)
Lord, I still weep for Jean; bring me into your joy.

Blessed are you when men hate you, And when they exclude you, And revile you, and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man's sake. Luke 6:22 (NKJV)
Lord, I am a stranger and an alien; help me be a companion to others along the way.

Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! For indeed your reward is great in heaven, For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets. Luke 6:23 (NKJV)
Jesus, I hear you speaking; bring me into your joy.

Father, thank you for the consolation of your presence.

Holy Spirit, prepare my heart for the days of hunger and mourning.

Woe to you when all men speak well of you, For so did their fathers to the false prophets. Luke 6:26 (NKJV)

A book to read: WHEN GOD DOESN'T FIX IT by Laura Story

Now it happened on the second Sabbath after the first that He went through the grainfields. And His disciples plucked the heads of grain and ate them, rubbing them in their hands. And some of the Pharisees said to them, "Why are you doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?" But Jesus answering them said, "Have you not even read this, what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he went into the house of God, took and ate the showbread, and also gave some to those with him, which is not lawful for any but the priests to eat?" And He said to them, "The Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath." Luke 6:1-5 (NKJV)
Jesus, be Lord of our Sabbaths.

So the scribes and Pharisees watched Him closely, whether He would heal on the Sabbath, that they might find an accusation against Him. Luke 6:7 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, please help us repent of seeking to find fault in others.

Then Jesus said to them, "I will ask you one thing: Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy?" Luke 6:9 (NKJV)
Father, help us do good on the Sabbath.

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, Colossians 1:1 (NKJV)
Holy God, help us recognize your will for us.

because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, Colossians 1:5 (NKJV)
Father, help us hear your words of gospel truth.

which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth; Colossians 1:6 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, let your word bear fruit in my life.

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13-14 (NKJV)
Jesus, thank you for bringing us into the kingdom of light.

For behold, the days are coming,' says the LORD, 'that I will bring back from captivity My people Israel and Judah,' says the LORD. 'And I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.' " Jeremiah 30:3 (NKJV)
LORD, bring your people out of captivity to the world.

Our help is in the name of the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. Psalm 124:8 (NKJV)
      Thank you, LORD!

So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, Luke 5:1 (NKJV)
Jesus, I too long to hear your word.

When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, "Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch." Luke 5:4 (NKJV)
Jesus, at your word, help me launch out into the deep.

and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men." Luke 5:10 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me set aside fear and become a fisher of men.

So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him. Luke 5:11 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me follow wherever Jesus leads.

But you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, although you knew all this. Daniel 5:22 (NKJV)
Father, help us learn what you have taught prior generations.

For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding. Psalm 47:7 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me sing God's praises with understanding.

PRAYER TABLE REPORT -- Saint Ann's of Amsterdam, Monday, April 24 and Monday, May 1, 20-17, 9:45-10:45 a.m. both days on the lawn in front of our church on Division Street. James Bryant and Deacon Alan presiding at His table both days --
SCENES -- Sorry I didn't get this out to you last week, but I was just chasing my tail all week, it seemed. Both tables were held in very good weather; the two days were very different in nature, which is not unusual Every prayer table session is different. Last week about 30 people came and not too many wanted prayer -- just clothing and food we offer. Yesterday, EVERYONE wanted prayer, and nearly all of them were of a very serious nature. One thing we have noticed recently is that we are getting a lot of first-time visitors. They invariably come to the table and ask "I've heard that you pray for people here for problems they have. Is that true?" ... A man and woman came to the table (April 24) and asked, "What is this, some kind of yard sale?" James explained what we are doing -- offering prayer for needs and thanksgivings, free non-perishable food and free clean, used clothing. No obligations. Nothing to sign. The man and woman were amazed.       Many thanks to Kitty Newell and Sue Banfield for donating leftover meals from Sunday's Community Meal. We passed them out to grateful table visitors yesterday. ... Also many thanks to a generous anonymous donor who dropped off a case of Chunky Soup and a case of mac and cheese dinners. THANK YOU!
PRAYER CONCERNS -- Please join us in intercessory prayer for CONSUELA (upcoming eye surgery she is worried about), LISA (for safety and protection), SONDRA (private matter; the Lord knows the details), DARCY (provision for her and her family), ETHEL (healing), ALBERT (a friend of his is in trouble) and MARIE (first-time; serious illness.)

Now He arose from the synagogue and entered Simon's house. But Simon's wife's mother was sick with a high fever, and they made request of Him concerning her. So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and served them. Luke 4:38-39 (NKJV)
Lord Jesus, please come into our homes with your healing.

Now when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place. And the crowd sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them; Luke 4:42 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us seek out quiet times of prayer away from the crowds as Jesus did.

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 1 John 5:2 (NKJV)
Establish your adoption of us in our hearts by helping us love you and keeping your commandments.

The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You. Psalm 9:9-10 (NKJV)
Jesus, I put my trust in you.

Arise, O LORD, Do not let man prevail; let the nations be judged in Your sight. Put them in fear, O LORD, that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Psalm 9:19-20 (NKJV)
Lord, bring the rulers of the nations to true repentance. Let them fear you and know that they are but men.

Then He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths. And they were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority. Luke 4:31-32 (NKJV)
Jesus, help us come to know the authority of your word.

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:11 (NKJV)
Father, help us love with your love.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18 (NKJV)
Jesus, bring me to that perfection where your love will cast out all my fears.

We love Him because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help me respond to Jesus' love for me.

"And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses." Daniel 4:32 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help our rulers know that they are but men and subject to your discipline.

Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men. Psalm 66:5 (NKJV)
LORD, give me eyes to see your mighty works.

Because He has anointed Me Luke 4:18b (NKJV)

To proclaim liberty to the captives Luke 4:18e (NKJV)
Father, help us proclaim liberty to the captives.

And recovery of sight to the blind, Luke 4:18f (NKJV)
Jesus, as you did, let us bring recovery of sight to the blind.

To set at liberty those who are oppressed; Luke 4:18g (NKJV)
Jesus, let your church set at liberty those who are oppressed in mind, body, or spirit.

To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD." Luke 4:19 (NKJV)
Holy Trinity, One God, help us proclaim to all your people your acceptable time.

And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. 1 John 3:23 (NKJV)
Father, help us love you and our neighbor in word and deed.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, give us discernment to test the spirits.

LORD, I bless you, for you are our help and strength.
