16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols. Acts 17:16 (NKJV)
Lord, provoke our spirits by the idolatry that surrounds us.

17 Therefore he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with the Gentile worshipers, and in the marketplace daily with those who happened to be there. Acts 17:17 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us go into the marketplace and reason with people there.

22 Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, "Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; 23 for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you: Acts 17:22-23 (NKJV)
Father, being religious doesn't get you anything; but only being grafted by faith into the vine with Jesus as its root.

1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, And rely on horses, Who trust in chariots because they are many, And in horsemen because they are very strong, But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel, Nor seek the LORD! 2 Yet He also is wise and will bring disaster, And will not call back His words, But will arise against the house of evildoers, And against the help of those who work iniquity. Isaiah 31:1-2 (NKJV)
Woe to those put their trust in the strength of men. Jesus, please help us turn to you for the strength to endure.

5 God has gone up with a shout, The LORD with the sound of a trumpet. 6 Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! 7 For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding. Psalm 47:5-7 (NKJV)
Holy Spirit, help us sing God's praises with understanding.

A Word Received: Look to me for understanding when the times are evil. Look to my cross for my victory over sin and death.
