Matthew 13:3-9 King James Version

3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
     Jesus, the question for many in the church is not where they are sowing seeds, but rather are they sowing any seeds at all.

4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
     Holy Spirit, help us examine our hearts to see if we are on the wayside rather than on the path to Jesus.

5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: 6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
     Father, please help us enlarge that place in our hearts where you plant the seeds of the gospel so that they may grow and flourish.

7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
     Lord, so much in our cultures rises up to choke the life of the Spirit.

8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
     Jesus, please help me to be good soil for the gospel to grow and flourish in my life.

9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
     Holy Spirit, give us ears and hearts to hearken to Jesus' words.

A Word Received: Let me plant the seed of the gospel deep in your heart and life.
