Luke 6:43-49 New King James Version

43 “For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush.
     Jesus, there are some corrupted limbs on the tree of my heart that keep me from bearing good fruit. Have mercy on me and prune away those corrupted limbs.

45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
     Holy Spirit, cleanse my heart of every evil intention.

46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?
     Jesus, please help me do your words to me.

     Father, much of the church has proved to be like cut flowers: beautiful at first, but soon to wither away because they are cut off from the root that supplies nourishment.
