1 Samuel 18:1-4 New King James Version
18 Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. 2 Saul took him that day, and would not let him go home to his father’s house anymore. 3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. 4 And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt.
Jesus, please give us such friendships and covenant relationships.

1 Sam 20 Read the whole of the chapter to see the depth of the relationship Jonathan and Daavid shared.

11 Samuel 20:41-42 New King James Version
41 As soon as the lad had gone, David arose from a place toward the south, fell on his face to the ground, and bowed down three times. And they kissed one another; and they wept together, but David more so. 42 Then Jonathan said to David, “Go in peace, since we have both sworn in the name of the Lord, saying, ‘May the Lord be between you and me, and between your descendants and my descendants, forever.’ ” So he arose and departed, and Jonathan went into the city.
Jesus, please bless us with such friendships.

Proverbs 18:24b New King James Version
24b But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Jesus, you have stuck close to us through all our follies and sins.

John 15:13-15 New King James Version
13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
Jesus, you have made us friends and have loved us by laying down your life for us. Thank you.

Acts 9:17 New King James Version
17 And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
Jesus, thank you for the surprising relationships you give us.

A Word Received: I want you to heed my commands so that you can enter into the love and friendship I have for you.
