And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a man stood opposite him with his sword drawn in his hand. and Joshua went to him and said to him, "Are you for us or for our adversaries?" (Joshua 5:13)
Father, when we prepare to go into battle, prepare our hearts to recognize your servants.

So he said, "No, but as Commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshipped, and said to him, "What does my Lord say to his servant?" (Joshua 5:14)
Lord Jesus Christ, show us each day what you require of us. Help us to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly before you. (See Micah 6:8 ) Lord, we keep asking the wrong question: we ask, "Are you on our side?" The correct question is, "Are we on your side?"

Then the Commander of the LORD’S army said to Joshua, "Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy." And Joshua did so. (Joshua 5:15)
Holy Spirit, please help us recognize the times and places of holiness and in humility take off our shoes before you to honor you.

A word received: Keep waiting on me.
