For those in the armed forces
Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping all the men and women in our armed forces at home and abroad. Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace; strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils wihich beset them and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (BCP)

Luke 14:25-27 New King James Version
25 Now great multitudes went with Him. And He turned and said to them, 26 “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. 27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
Lord, we pray for those who have left all to follow your call.

Luke 15:1-2 New King James Version
1 Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. 2 And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.”
Jesus, thank you for receiving me, a sinner.

Acts 4:12-14 New King James Version
12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” The Name of Jesus Forbidden
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus. 14 And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.
Father, let it be evident to others that we have spent time with Jesus.

Acts 4:18-20 New King James Version
18 So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. 20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.”
Holy Spirit, please give us boldness in the face of political correctness and oppression.

A Word Received: Look to me when men are dying for the gospel.
